While in residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in January of 2023 I was fortunate enough to meet Duane Forrest: an incredible songwriter, storyteller, and gem of a human being. Duane came to Banff to further develop his project “Sunrise in Jasper” which explores the histories and stories of Black and Indigenous folks in Canada, and their potential intersections.
