DEEP TIME ITERATIONS

Deep Time Iterations emerged over the course of a three week residency at Studio H in Metchosin, BC, Canada on the unceded territory of the Sc'ianew First Nation. What began as an intellectual and artistic inquiry into the use of transducers to amplify electronic instruments thereby (I hoped) resulting in a greater degree of embodiment on the part of the performer, quickly spun into a much deeper existential exploration of climate change, its sonic implications, and how our world might hear us.

Below are three moments from that journey, with more on the way (some video essays, impulse responses, improvisations, and a record).

Regarding what’s to come of the materials – both tangible and intangible – I gathered during my time at Studio H: over the next couple months I will slowly start releasing bits and pieces across a variety of media in the hopes of making any knowledge I gained from my time there available and accessible.

Presenting this work poses a variety of challenges, practically and creatively. Much of my learnings while at Studio H live in liminalities, somewhere between the scientific and spiritual; somewhere both scientific and spiritual. I look forward to letting the lid off the pot.
